I’m Kristie Jane (KJ), and these are my babies, Edie and Milo. (See pic below)
I’m so grateful you’re here!
Small Fry Rock began in 2018 when I was a stay at home Mum looking for shows to take Edie to. In 2016 I decided to step back working full time after 15 years working in the music industry in venues (booking the Inner West’s beloved Annandale Hotel), touring (Love Police) and artist management, choosing to focus on growing my little family. As a new Mum though, without being able to get to gigs as often, I felt myself slowly disconnecting from the industry I love. Hoping there were other people out there feeling the same, Small Fry Rock was created for us tired parents to stay connected to the artists we love to support and to introduce our small fries to music we know and love, without having to hire a babysitter! Kind of like a musical appreciation parents group. And, let’s be honest, who doesn’t love day drinking while the kids happily dance and kick balloons around.
Gigs are held during the day at the child friendly time of 11am with short artist set times. The whole event is wrapped by 1pm. We fill the venues with balloons for colour and distraction, as well as creating quiet areas with colouring stations. All of our shows are set in genuine live music environments, with dimmed lights, monitored sound levels and a licensed bar. All ages are welcome. Our goal is to create a safe and inclusive space for families.
With a few setbacks, including covid and applying for funding rounds, we have
40 x shows under our belt! Sign up to our newsletter and join the fun.
